Do you have a START HERE page for your blog or website? Here’s how to create images for it in just minutes using the PicMonkey app.

If your blog or website is open to anyone it can be tricky to make sure that your new readers find the content they need when they first visit your site without a major site redesign (I know because I’ve been there!).

Here’s where having a Start Here page can help – it’s a great tool for directing new readers to your best content because it lets you categorise that content according to their needs. On the Start Here page for my site, pre-makeover, I highlighted resources for starting your journey to joy, for blogging and for travel – not unsurprisingly these were directly linked to the three categories on the site at the time.

I’ll be writing more soon about how to plan and create a Start Here page for your own site. But today I want to share a quick tutorial that I did on Periscope (again, pre-makeover) where I show how to create images like the ones on the Start Here page above in just a few minutes using the PicMonkey app – they’re a great way highlight your key posts.

If you’re not familiar with Periscope, it’s Twitter’s live broadcasting app and it’s seat-of-your-pants fun! (You can read more about how to start using Periscope in my Bloggers Guide to Periscope.)

Do you have a Start Here page? Do you find it useful for new readers? If you don’t have one would you be interested in a tutorial about how to create one for your website or blog? Let me know in the comments…
